実はバッドフィンガーというバンドを､ぼくはよく知らない。まあ、この曲以外どうでもいいのだが。
これを書くので少し調べた。
1968年にアップルレコードからデビューしている。この曲は初のスタジオアルバム『Magic Christian Music』に収められていて、この曲はリンゴ・スターが出演した「マジッククリスチャン」という映画のサントラに使われたらしい。全てが今回初めて知った。
多分このYouTubeが映画の一シーンなんだろう。
昔はネットも無かったので、この曲が何に入っているのかな～とか、本当に漠然と捜しながら、レコード店にいた当時、1990年に発売された74年のライブ『Day After Day』などを購入したが､ほとんど聴いてない。
最初の音源は高校時代のエアチェックだったが、ようやくCDで聴いたのは、会社を辞める直前に友人から借りた『Magic Christian Music』そのものだった。
そして最終的に自分で手に入れたのは『Very Best of Badfinger』というベストアルバムだった。そしてやはり、この曲しか聴かない。
高校時代からおよそ40年聞き続けた（そのほとんどはカセットテープ）この曲は、きれいなハーモニーとマイナーコードのメロディ、そして恐らくバッドフィンガーにしてはハードなギター。でも全体はバラード。バラードをWikiで見ると「ゆったりしたテンポ、静かな楽想、美しいメロディラインやハーモニー、そしてラヴソングを中心とした感傷的な歌詞を音楽的な主軸とし、楽式的には、ピアノなどによる静かなイントロとエンディングに向けての劇的な盛り上がりが特徴」とあるので、当にそんな曲なのではないかと思う。尤も、ラブソングでは無さそうだが。

YouTubeを見ると､結構いろんな人がカバーしている。We All Togetherというバンドは、自分たちのレパートリーとして一番有名なのがこの曲になってさえいるようだ。
意外にいいのが、New Jiew Nanという人達（3人の名前のようだ）のアレンジ。どうもタイの歌手らしい。ちょっとジャジー。
